Deborah Whetstone is an Expert Real Estate Advisor with Bellator Real Estate’s Gulf Shores office, bringing more than 25 years of experience in education, translation, and community service to her real estate career. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Deborah taught Spanish and English as a Second Language from Pre-K through post-secondary levels and also worked as a translator and interpreter in both the United States and Spain. Her lifelong passion for serving students and their families naturally evolved into a desire to serve clients and their families in real estate.

Deborah understands that buying or selling a home is a momentous occasion in a person’s life. She is committed to guiding her clients through each step of the process, ensuring they feel informed, confident, and empowered to make decisions that best serve their interests and long-term goals. Her patience, attention to detail, and heart for service set her apart and create a client experience built on trust and care.
A proud graduate of University of Alabama (B.A. in Spanish), Bowling Green State University (M.A. in Spanish), and University of South Alabama (M.A. in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language), Deborah also studied for two years at Universidad de Alcala in Madrid, Spain. She lived in Spain for 12 years, where she met her husband, Ramon Cortes. In 2011, they moved back to Deborah’s hometown of Gulf Shores, a community she knows and loves deeply.

Deborah and Ramon are parents to four children and are actively involved in family life and community activities. Outside of real estate, Deborah enjoys cooking, reading, writing, and traveling. In 2026, Deborah and her family plan to run races together, and she is excited to compete in her first half marathon this year - a personal goal that reflects her determination and perseverance.
